Building Healthy Smiles from Baby to School Age

By introducing oral healthcare from a very early age, we aim to prevent unnecessary treatments and reduce fears of the dental practice.
At Macduff Dental, we encourage new parents to attend Childsmile sessions provided by our Extended Duty Dental Nurse, who works with the whole dental team to support each child or family.
Together, we provide a tailored programme of Childsmile care throughout your child’s formative years.

Early Dental Visits (12–18 Months)

Routine visits to the dentist begin between 12 and 18 months of age.
These early check‑ups help children become familiar with the dental environment.

Annual Check‑ups & Treatment

Ongoing annual dental check‑ups and treatment if required as your child grows. This helps detect and manage problems early, keeping teeth healthy.

Fluoride Varnish Applications

Fluoride varnish applications are provided for children from two years old.
Research shows fluoride varnish is highly effective at reducing tooth decay when applied at least twice a year.

Extended Duty Dental Nurse Support

Extended Duty Dental Nurses from Childsmile practices are trained in oral health promotion. They support the dental team with fluoride varnish application and Childsmile care.

Reducing Dental Fears

Early, positive experiences at the practice help alleviate fears of the dentist.
We aim to build trust and confidence so children feel relaxed about dental care.

Family‑Centred Care

Childsmile plans are designed for the individual child or for whole families.
We work with parents and carers to support good habits at home.
